About Us
Take the pilgrimage to adventure.
In 1974, we opened the Mayflower Inn with just eight rooms. Today, the inn operates with adventure tours we offer mean that we are able to provide an all-encompassing experience. Our ability to meet these expectations consistently shines through in our contented, returning customers, as well as our award for Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador’s Tourism Business of the Year in 2009.
The Adventure
Although you can certainly escape to the Mayflower Inn to relax and unwind, we also cater to those looking for adventure, or perhaps a little of both. So, whether you’re looking for adventure for your self, your family, a large group or maybe just with that special someone, we can customize a package for your needs.
Since we’re open year-round, the experiences we offer change depending on the season. Throughout the year, you can choose to explore the area with one of our hiking, snowshoeing or snowmobiling packages, and you may want to also take part in our geocaching adventures. We also offer a variety of fishing and wildlife adventure packages, which can be either guided or self-guided. Of course, the always-popular iceberg and whale tours are also available, and with our RIB boat we are able to observe both of these beautiful inhabitants of the ocean in many areas around the inn.
The Area
Mayflower Inn & Adventures is located in the quaint rural town of Roddickton, less than two hours from L’Anse Aux Meadows, in the heart of the French Shore. Home to the Underground Salmon Pool, as well as an abundance of other natural and beautiful sights such as icebergs and whales, the area is renowned for its pristine beauty.
Overall, the province of Newfoundland is home to a multitude of unique flora and fauna. Etched with thousands of lakes & streams, endless miles of evergreen forests and rolling barrens of tundra, virgin territory dominates the countryside. The island’s tiny communities are mainly situated along the coastline, while the majority of the population resides in the capital of St. John’s on the Avalon Peninsula. For this reason, human impact on the island is relatively slight when compared to the more populated, industrial areas of the world.
