Atlantic Salmon Fly Fishing
Fishing: just one of our areas of expertise
For many years Northern Newfoundland has been a fishing secret well kept. Atlantic salmon fishing is certainly no exception. Commonly known as “brookies” by locals these trout can be exciting and entertaining fishing through either fly fishing or spin casting.
Experience the thrill and excitement of a fishing trip in one of Newfoundland’s greatest frontiers. The cold waters of Northern Newfoundland are excellent for the health of the Atlantic salmon. These cold temperatures cause the salmon to be extremely lively and aggressive requiring an angler to be vigorous and alert. We have three rivers located on the eastern side of northern Newfoundland, an area that remains unique with old-growth forest that blankets the coastal valleys.
Due to its remoteness, the Northern Peninsula has bountiful stocks of Atlantic salmon found throughout these exhilarating rivers. For many years, Newfoundland has been a secret well kept when it came to fly fishermen knowing this is the best place to land Atlantic salmon. Pound for pound, the Atlantic salmon is one of the strongest fish in the water. Grilse are more commonly landed, these extremely lively fish jump four to five feet in the air when hooked.
The Fishing season annually opens from the beginning of June until mid September. The best of the fishing is from the last week of June to the end of July.
