The Mayflower Inn was perfect for exploring a fascinating area – beautiful spot with lots of history on outports and fishing. Trevor took us out whale watching where we saw puffins, kittiwakes, seals and a spectacular iceberg. The rock formations and sea caves were fantastic as we traveled as far north as Conche. Coming back, we went into the harbour of Englee where there were fishing boats getting ready for their next trip to catch crab.
Trevor and Shanna gave us great advice to do our own self-guided tours on amazing trails, beautifully built boardwalks and vistas to die for. We visited the Underground Salmon Pool, again, self-guided and watched as the salmon swam upstream to breed. Conche is a must see, with its own beautiful trails and a museum housing a tapestry depicting the history of Newfoundland, based on the French Bayeux Tapestry – over 200 feet long- and directed by artists in France. Amazing! Thanks to Trevor, Shanna and Trevor’s mother, Ruby for a great stay. We’ll be back!
